DRBF Partners with American University on Construction Law and Dispute Resolution Course
17 Jun 2026

DRBF leadership recently participated in a certificate program in Construction Law and Dispute Boards at American University in Washington, DC. Launched in 2025, this was the second installment of the first university program of its kind with a specific emphasis on Dispute Review Boards in the US. The course was taught by DRBF Past President Ken Roberts and DRBF Executive Director Ann Russo in early June 2026.

Students learned the fundamentals of Dispute Review Board practice, their role in the broader ADR context, and practical guidance for implementing or serving on a DRB. AU's certificate program includes units on the causes of disputes, mediation and construction arbitration, and is a joint initiative of the American University Center on International Commercial Arbitration and the Hospitality Law Program.
In addition, DRBF President Jerry Brodsky delivered a similar certificate course on Dispute Boards in Spanish for the American University Center on International Commercial Arbitration. The students primarily came from Latin America with a goal to improve their knowledge and skills at a high academic level; students included representatives from public agencies charged with executing and/or supervising vital infrastructure projects in Latin America.
